Classical music for Jazz fans, Jazz music for Classical lovers.
Formed in 2005, the New York-based BM4 (BurgstallerMartignon4)performs an exciting and inventive hybrid of Classical and Jazz that has simultaneously ignited the excitement of fans of both genres. Their concerts straddle Jazz and Classical, inventively and organically combining them while remaining both sophisticated and accessible.
BM4’s co-leaders are internationally renowned TRUMPETER JOE BURGSTALLER (Soloist, ex-Canadian Brass & Meridian Arts Ensemble) and the Columbian-born PIANIST HECTOR MARTIGNON (Grammy Nominee for his own solo albums in 2009 and 2011; Tony & Oscar nominated; formerly with Ray Barretto, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera and Paul Simon). They are joined by percussionist John Ferrari (Naumburg Award Winner, Meridian Arts Ensemble) and bassist Hans Glawischnig (Chick Corea, Ray Baretto).
BM4’s debut recording Mozart’s Blue Dreams was thrust in its very first week onto the Top-50 JazzRadio Charts, and was featured on well over 100 Jazz and Classical stations. Their newest CD Bach’s Secret Files has continued that success, playing on again over 100 stations and charting for several months on the Roots Radio Charts (under Paul Simon, but right above the Beastie Boys).
